Jean Dunand lacquered powder compact
Jean Dunand (1877-1942), a very rare lacquer and eggshell on metal (oreum) powder compact, the inside with maki-e gold lacquer, signed on the bottom in full 'Jean Dunand', ca. 1925, diameter 13,3 cm, height 5,3 cm. For a box, identical in shape but with a different decoration see Marcilhac, Jean Dunand, p. 103, plate 88, for a powder box made for his wife. In perfect condition but lacking the iron 'bracket' final of the lid. (reserved)Period 1920-1940
