A rare 16th century candlestick with central drip-catcher, brass, with a very nice dark patinated. Probably French? Made in 2 parts. Height 20 cm, diameter base 11,5 cm. For a similar example see R.F. Michaelis, Old domestic Base-metal Candlesticks, Woodbridge (Suffolk), antiques collectors' Club, 1997, figure 94, p. 73 & 74. Stem refastened. By repute excavated.
