Jules Boulez an important modernist furniture ensemble 1930's

Jules Boulez (1889-1960): a probably unique modernist furniture ensemble comprising 4 club chairs, a cilindrical table with a 'Noir de Mazy' top, and a cilindrical stool. Made in laminated wood and mahogany, the club chairs without upholstery, the stool with upholstery in need of changing. Designed by the artist and executed in the 1930's. Height chair 90 cm, width 68 cm, depth 81 cm; height table 66 cm, diameter table 100 cm, height stool 37 cm, diameter stool 45 cm. Overall with traces of use, with small damages here and there to the mahogany veneer, but in unrestored original condition. Provenance: private collection Oudenaarde, by repute acquired by the previous owner from a house which was destroyed near the river Schelde (= the artists house?).
