Marcel Laforêt (Winenne 1892 - Liège 1972), Le Batelier (the boatman), end of the 1920's, oi lon canvas, signed bottom left, 28,5 x 36,5 cm, dimensions with original frame 33 x 41 cm. The unmistaken influence of Gustave Van de Woestijne in this work leads to a probable dating of this painting to the end of the 1920's, when Laforêt studied at La Cambre.
