Leon Sarteel Awakening 1908 a rare and early plaster cast

Leon Sarteel (1882-1942), 'Ontluiking' (Awakening), 1908, the rare early version on the sculpture, in patinated plaster, this cast probably done by the artist. Signed and dated on the side of the base 'Sarteel / 08', dimensions: 63 x 29 x 20 cm. Some small damages at the base rim and some minor damages due to handling and age (see photographs). Provenance: painter Clémence Jonnaert, of whom we have a painting depicting the statuette.
