Philibert Smets (1888-1948), a willow in a landscape, probably near Mechelen, oil on board laid down on panel, dated 20/07/1911 bottom right, unsigned. 28 x 20,2 cm, dimensions with frame 32 x 25 cm. A rare work by this important interior designer who studied at the Mechelen Academy but went on tho become the principal designer for Charles Van Beerleire, winning a gold medal at the 1925 Decorative Arts Exhibition in Paris. Provenance: the son of the artist.
