Wolfers Frères pair of Wotan candlesticks in silver ca. 1935-1936

Wolfers Frères (S.A.), Brussels, a probably very early pair of three-lights Wotan candlesticks in silver and wood, with the glass dripping pans which almost always lack, designed in 1935 and this pair probably executed around that date. One candlestick bears the retail marks of Bourdon in Gent (in use untill 1935 or 1939) and alloy mark 925 for sterling, the other candlestick with the Wolfers Frères S.A. makers mark, (in use from 1934-1939) and with alloy mark of 950/1000. Both marked on the base near the rim. Although the pair has diferent marks, they are identical in size and only differ at the bottom of the base (three screws in stead of four for the fixation of the wooden base). They were bought as a pair by the original owners at Bourdon's. Height 13,5 cm, diameter base 16 cm, diameter of glass dripping pans 7,5 cm.
