Jan Willem Grinwis Plaat Stultjes (1898-1934), the resurrection of Christ, 1921, an extremely rare oil painting by this South-African artist who studied at the Ghent Academy, signed bottom right, inscribed with the date at the back of the strecher in pencil, oil on canvas, 39,5 x 49,5 cm, dimensions with frame 46 x 55,5 cm. Hitherto the only religious work known to us that Stultjes painted and one of the few surviving paintings that is identifiable from his period studio photographs
