Louis Wolfers, père et Fils I a very rare silver japonist teapot
Louis Wolfers, père et Fils I (Brussels), a very rare silver Japonist teapot, designed and made before 1890, with a martelé finsih and engraved decoration of flowers and a flying bird, the naturalistic handle cast and slightly gilt, the final in the form of a 'chien de Fo', height 12 cm, length 21 cm (spout to handle). Weight 457 grams. Unmarked, but with a later alloy mark on the bottom of '800M' for 800/1000. In good condition, one of the insulators of the handle replaced. A cup with the same handle form (but smaller) in the collection of the Design museum Ghent (inv. nr. 2006/104), the bronze models for the handle in the collection of the DIVA museum in Antwerp (inv. nr. S2004/16/4518).
