Jozef Cantré (1890-1957), Interieur (Interior or La Mère), 1920, an original woodcut, signed and dated in pencil by the artist bottom right, with mention 'Handafdruk' in pencil bottom left, 21,5 x 18 cm (sheet). The paper very thin so-called 'Japanese' paper often used for block prints, a restored tear in the right corner, through the signature and into the image. Paper laid down on paper. Unframed. From the personal collection of Auguste Taevernier, Ghent (with his collection stamp, see Lugt 3334, bottom left) . This very rare woodcut also features in the 'Geel Zaad -Grain Jaune' portofolio edited by the artist in 1921. For an identical woodcut see: Museum of Fine Arts Ghent
