Philippe Vandenberg (1952-2009), an early oil on canvas, with a crusty, fiercely painted surface, 180 x 100 cm, signed and dated at the back "Philippe vandenberghe (sic) / 1983". Painted in relation to a series of paintings called 'The Grip' ('De Greep'). 'To be included in the forthcoming overview catalogue of the complete works of Philippe Vandenberg by the Philippe Vandenberg Foundation. Metal fortifying slats attached to the back of the wooden stretcher, which is slightly warped.
